Lo­cal am­bu­lance of­fi­cers are ap­plaud­ing by­standers who re­sponded to a med­i­cal emer­gency at Rex Smeal Park for giv­ing “in­valu­able as­sis­tance” to paramedics called to treat a 72year-old man from WA who had gone into car­diac ar­rest. A lo­cal per­son and two vis­i­tors had started CPR on the man, how­ever he was later de­clared de­ceased. “To the by­standers who as­sisted with CPR we say a huge thank you to them, and our con­do­lences to the wife and fam­ily – the wife was say­ing that her hus­band loved Port Dou­glas and were happy to be back in this area,” a QAS Port Dou­glas of­fi­cer said.
