ROD DAVIS PENS SOME FINAL THOUGHTS ON THE DEMISE

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

Radio in Port deamalgamated the captive DSC. It let every community group, sports team and business pitch their mojo. Its was to politics what a fry pan is to an egg.

I used to walk out of the various studios kacking myself at what was just said on air. And some of what was said on radio in Port Douglas never gets aired anywhere.

So...as Joni sang...ya doe’know what ya got till it’s gone.

But I still feel like it’s a bit like passthe-parcel in a Belfast pub...someone put the music back on, quick.

It’s my hope, having hung the first transmitter in PD, that some group...maybe a community group, keeps on broadcasting the voice of the Douglas Shire.

Local radio is barely viable, sure...it cost me hundreds of thou...but hey...it was worth every mad cent.

So my congrats to the Zsar Zsar Gabours...you kept the pass-the-parcel going well beyond the detonator’s due date.

Rod Davis, a little island off Lombok
