Kids learn from their own sci­en­tist

DUR­ING this term Ju­lat­ten State School has wel­comed an as­so­ci­a­tion with CSIRO to de­velop STEM in the pri­mary school set­ting.

Mr Fred Birk­beck has been of­fi­cially ap­pointed as the Ju­lat­ten Sci­en­tist in School. Mr Birk­beck will pro­mote and sup­port pro­grams for stu­dents in: • Sci­ence • Tech­nol­ogy • Engi­neer­ing • Maths He has pro­fes­sional qual­i­fi­ca­tions in elec­tron­ics and math­e­mat­ics and has had a lengthy ca­reer in en­abling stu­dents and young adults to achieve their ca­reer goals and per­sonal dreams.

Dur­ing next term, Mr Birk­beck will sup­port the Yr 5/6 class with build­ing elec­tri­cal cir­cuits in weekly sci­ence lessons.

His role as Sci­en­tist in School will be to sup­port se­nior stu­dents to tran­si­tion to sec­ondary ed­u­ca­tion and de­velop in­di­vid­ual path­way plans.

Ju­lat­ten State School is ex­cited to have a Sci­en­tist in School and is look­ing for­ward to a long term and pro­duc­tive re­la­tion­ship with Mr Birk­beck.

Ju­lat­ten schoolkids had a ball cel­e­brat­ing their reading achieve­ments.
