PRESIDENT of the Mossman Show committee, Mr Mathew Hatfield, is very excited about the 2017 Mossman Show and said that, with fine weather, this one will be bigger and better than previous years.

“Every year the numbers attending the Show get bigger,” Mr Hatfield said.

“This year we have more traders’ spaces rented out so there will be even more to see.”

Last year’s attendance estimate was 5000.

He emphasised the need to support the local show saying that, for some, “the Cairns Show is just too busy” so encourages people to come to the Mossman Show.

“My favourite thing is to wander around the Show and see the smiles on everyone’s faces, especially the children,” he said.

There is a new line-up of entertainment which includes Mikayla Jade Trick Riding Show, Walter Whip and the Flames, the Memphis Moovers Band and the regular favourites includes wood chopping, pig races and the animal farm.

“The Sunday night free concert is looking really good with Hot Ice playing until midnight and the Marano’s Fuel Fireworks on Monday night at 8pm display will be sensational,” Mr Hatfield said.

“After you come through the gate, you can have hours of entertainment for free.”

Entry prices are the same as last year. For example a pre-paid family ticket is $30 and $35 at the gate.

“Support of the Show is a reflection of our Douglas community,” he said, “and we are keen to see lots of locals and visitors support this event.”

The Mossman Show will have plenty of fun activities for kids and adults.
