I TO­TALLY agree with David Cook (Let­ters, July 6) on the mat­ter of gill­net­ting.

In ar­eas around Aus­tralia they have and still are ban­ning net­ters and this should be hap­pen­ing in and around the Shire.

You haven’t been able to catch a de­cent size fish up the in­let for many years and this is due to net­ters.

If noth­ing is done ASAP there will be noth­ing left for our kids.

To buy fish from a seafood out­let is so ex­pen­sive be­cause of the de­cline in fish num­bers.

So come on Dou­glas Shire and coun­cil­lors please start do­ing some­thing about it and ban net­ters and some com­mer­cial fish­ers from our shire.
