Encore prelude to Port Shorts
THE winning films and audience favourites from the 2016 Port Shorts Film Festival will feature in a special Port Shorts Encore Show at the Clink Theatre on Saturday, August 5.
Audiences can sit back and enjoy some of the most popular short films from the 2016 Port Shorts Film Festival to whet the appetite for the 2017 festival on October 27-28.
Port Shorts festival director Alison George said the Clink was the perfect place to celebrate a selection of last year’s short films in a more intimate venue.
“We love having the Port Shorts Film Festival under the stars with hundreds of people at the Raiders grounds but it will be fun to see these films at the Clink where Port Shorts played and partied years ago,” Alison said.
“It’s a great venue and we’re really looking forward to showing the audience favourites from last year, catching up with some festival friends and filmmakers and hopefully encourage people to come along to the 2017 festival or even enter a film.
“The quality of short films we had to choose from for the Encore Show is exceptional, including the 2016 Port Shorts Film Festival winner Journey which went on to collect more than 100 awards on the international film festival circuit.
“We’ll have a selection of Local, Young Filmmaker and short films from around the world to give people a taste of what Port Shorts is about and invite them back for the main course at the end of October.”
Port Shorts organisers are delighted by the entries received already for the 2017 festival and have some big announcements regarding the 2017 Port Shorts Masterclass Series to share in the coming weeks.
“There’s some very exciting times ahead for filmmakers in Far North Queensland and Port Shorts is proud to be a part of it,” Alison said.
“Judging by the films entered already, the 2017 festival is shaping up to be even more impressive than last year and our line-up of workshop presenters we’re finalising for the 2017 Masterclass Series is very inspiring for filmmakers.
“Stay tuned for more details very soon.”
