Our two Jacks shine in Penin­sula soc­cer ti­tles

TWO Dou­glas United soc­cer ju­niors were part of the Penin­sula team who won the State School­boys Soc­cer Ti­tles on Sun­day.

Jack Jenk­ins and Jack Carr were part of the first Penin­sula team to ever win the Un­der 15 State Ti­tles with an in­cred­i­ble grand final on Sun­day.

The match saw the Penin­sula team beat Bris­bane Metro East in an spec­tac­u­lar game which ended 1-1 in reg­u­la­tion time. Penin­sula’s equal­is­ing goal was the re­sult of a bril­liant vol­ley by Jack Carr.

The match went to penal­ties with Carr scor­ing his sec­ond goal from the first penalty and Jenk­ins hit­ting Penin­sula’s win­ning penalty.

Both boys at­tend St Au­gus­tine’s Col­lege in Cairns and head off to Bris­bane in two weeks with the St Au­gus­tine’s team at­tempt­ing to win the Aus­tralian schools soc­cer cham­pi­onship.

They have also been se­lected for the Aus­tralian School Fut­sal Ti­tles in Coffs Har­bour in Septem­ber.

Both were part of Dou­glas United renowned ju­niors pro­gram for their first six years of soc­cer be­fore mov­ing into the FNQ Heat squad.
