QLD’S NAPLAN DATA

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

FAR North schools are expected to show an improvement in 2017 Year 3 and 5 NAPLAN results, on par with a statewide trend. Queensland was the only state to record substantial improvements in Year 3 reading, grammar, punctuation and spelling and Year 5 numeracy since testing began in 2008. Year 7 and 9 results showed an increase in spelling while Year 9 also showed improvements in numeracy. An analyst told News Corp yesterday that one reason for the improvement above other states was probably the substantial numbers of schools teaching Explicit Instruction, as in WA and the Northern Territory which showed similar improvement.
