Aged home cause to cel­e­brate

FI­NAL ap­proval was given by the Dou­glas Shire Coun­cil to the Sal­va­tion Army for the 42bed Moss­man aged care fa­cil­ity and the oc­ca­sion was cel­e­brated at the Moss­man District Nurs­ing Home Inc’s AGM.

The or­gan­i­sa­tion’s pres­i­dent, Ms Mar­jorie Nor­ris, gave her re­port where she spoke of the long process to come to this point in the plan­ning.

“The jour­ney has been long, some­times re­ward­ing, some­time de­spair­ing,” Ms Nor­ris said.

Ms Nor­ris ex­pressed her com­mit­tee’s ap­pre­ci­a­tion of the help of the Dou­glas Shire Coun­cil, and in “par­tic­u­lar Mayor Julie Leu, Linda Cardew, Ker­rie Hawkes and Neil Beck for their will­ing­ness and en­thu­si­asm”.

Coun­cil CEO Ms Linda Cardew spoke of the “unique re­la­tion­ship de­vel­oped dur­ing this process with the Sal­va­tion Army, the com­mu­nity, the com­mit­tee and Coun­cil”.
