Aged home cause to celebrate
FINAL approval was given by the Douglas Shire Council to the Salvation Army for the 42bed Mossman aged care facility and the occasion was celebrated at the Mossman District Nursing Home Inc’s AGM.
The organisation’s president, Ms Marjorie Norris, gave her report where she spoke of the long process to come to this point in the planning.
“The journey has been long, sometimes rewarding, sometime despairing,” Ms Norris said.
Ms Norris expressed her committee’s appreciation of the help of the Douglas Shire Council, and in “particular Mayor Julie Leu, Linda Cardew, Kerrie Hawkes and Neil Beck for their willingness and enthusiasm”.
Council CEO Ms Linda Cardew spoke of the “unique relationship developed during this process with the Salvation Army, the community, the committee and Council”.
