‘Insane goobers and ultra gronks’
FOR the second time in three weeks, Port Douglas and crocodiles have made it to the farthest corners of the global media landscape.
The exploits of several local men who swam in and around a crocodile trap in Dickson Inlet in recent days followed hard on the heals of coverage of the death of Mrs Anne Cameron, believed to have died in a croc attack in Craiglie.
One website, pitched at a youth demographic, called the men “insane goobers” and “ultra gronks”.
The UK dailies were nearly as colourful, inspired by the condemnation dished out by state Minister Stephen Miles and Mayor Julia Leu who were quick to label the foolish actions of the men in being around a baited croc trap.
