Making a better Xmas
MAYOR Julia Leu has launched the Christmas Appeal for the Douglas Shire.
“The Mayor’s Christmas Appeal helps local families in need, with funds from the Appeal used to buy food for Christmas hampers,” Mayor Leu said.
“Council appreciates the continued support of the Ministers’ Association, local church volunteers and Jawunkarra Indigenous Family Support Service who give their time annually to pack and deliver hampers across the Shire.
“Christmas is a special time of the year for giving and cash donations are also welcome from the community,” Mayor Leu said.
Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible and forms are available at www.douglas.qld.gov.au, Mossman Administration Office, Port Douglas Hub and Douglas Libraries.
Families with children aged 15 years and under, holding a Federal Government benefit card are eligible to apply for a food hamper from October 30 to November 30 2017.
