Moss­man Po­lice to pro­vide pres­ence dur­ing ferry clo­sure

MOSS­MAN Po­lice have com­mit­ted to pro­vid­ing a full time polic­ing pres­ence at Cape Tribu­la­tion dur­ing the up­com­ing Ferry clo­sure from Fe­bru­ary 28 to March 4.

Two of­fi­cers will be placed over the river for the du­ra­tion of the clo­sure. Of­fi­cer in Charge Sgt Matt Smith said his of­fi­cers would work closely with Wu­jal Po­lice, the other emer­gency agen­cies and the Cape Tribu­la­tion com­mu­nity to en­sure an ef­fec­tive and prompt ser­vice to any sit­u­a­tion that may arise.

If res­i­dents wish to con­tact Po­lice and it is an emer­gency, RING 000. If it is not an emer­gency, res­i­dents need to make con­tact through the Queens­land Po­lice Num­ber 131444.

Mean­while, DSC has an­nounced the Dain­tree ferry will be of­fer­ing free trips to lo­cals for two weeks from to­day be­fore un­der­go­ing the five-day shut­down.

The ser­vice will be free to peo­ple who live be­tween Card­well and Cook­town in­clud­ing the Table­lands un­til Fe­bru­ary 28.
