Lo­cal kids do well in Cairns Ei­esteddfod

“AN es­sen­tial part of stu­dents’ mu­si­cal education” is how vo­cal teacher Al­teouise De­Vaughn de­scribes the Cairns and District Ju­nior Eisteddfod and seven of her lo­cal stu­dents last week­end com­peted with ex­cel­lent re­sults.

Ms De­Vaughn said her stu- dents worked “very hard in their prepa­ra­tions and came through with the recog­ni­tion they de­served”. Toby Jensen and Angela Brischetto won first prize for their duet Pie Je­sus, Toby also won his Boys Vo­cal Solo and other mi­nor plac­ings, and Angela won her Char­ac­ter Song cat­e­gory.

Rochelle John­son won her Girls Vo­cal Solo and re­ceived plac­ings in other cat­e­gories.

Oth­ers who per­formed and re­ceived plac­ings or were highly com­mended were Holly Dow­ell, Rosa Cruz and Chelsea Gib­son. Kara Gib­son re­ceived ex­cel­lent feed­back from the Ad­ju­di­ca­tor.

“The all per­formed so very well,” Ms De­Vaughn said.
