What happened to the size limit previously imposed on writers of letters? The same as applies to Cairns Post would be good – say maximum of 200 words. Then others would get a go.

Recently we’ve seen letters taking up the whole page.

On a different topic, the Aged Care facility at Mossman has progressed to the fencing of the site stage and judging by the three years it has taken to get this far since the 2015 announcement to start building, the completed facility should be ready by 2000 and . . . twenty? thirty? forty?

Mossman requires the jobs this may create.

Bob Pollock, Mossman

THE Under 11s Mossman Junior Rugby League team (the kids, parents and volunteers) who will travel to Townsville in July to play in the Laurie Spina Shield would like to thank our business community for supporting this team. Our acceptance to the 72-team carnival was last-minute so we had to move quickly. Massive thanks to our major sponsors Mossman’s Post Office Hotel, Mossman Bowls Club, Mossman Custom Kitchen, Raine and Horne Real Estate, and Body Beyond Belief for their generosity, and belief we could get there! Our major fundraising event, Bogan Bingo, was a fun and entertaining night and I’d further like to thank our community for getting involved. Prizes and auction items proudly donated by Moonglow Port Douglas, Junction Cafe, Whimsy Beads, Yalanji Arts – Mossman Gorge, Grotti Lotti, Harrisons Restaurant, The Beauty Room, Sportspower was much appreciated. Also credit to Mossman Bowls Club, Prices Plus, Daintree Fresh Farms, Mossman Butchering Co and the Mossman Golf Club for supporting the night with goods and services. The generosity and entertainment value of Bingo Master “00” Dave (Evans) along with gear provided by Nicky G made the event a huge success. Thanks Mossman Butchering Company who have helped us out with numerous meat trays to raffle over the past few weeks. Thanks Mossman and Port Douglas – everyone who bought raffle tickets, auction items and attended events, volunteered their time and effort. We are heading off to this carnival feeling the love and support of a whole community.
