DOUGLAS Shire Council’s new chief executive officer Mark Stoermer is keen to get involved in the community.
“In the week that I’ve been here it’s just been fantastic and I’ve been really loving it,” he said.
“I’ve been given a tour around the shire and it’s great to see all the work council has been doing. I’ve had chats with community members and I’m looking forward to more of those.
“I’m really looking forward to working with councillors and the organisation, it’s a fantastic organisation and my impression has been really positive.
“There are a lot of opportunities to do a lot of good things and I’ve really enjoyed my first week, meeting people and getting my head across different issues.”
Mr Stoermer will bring extensive experience in local government, including a fiveyear stint as director of corporate business at the City of Melbourne.
He also previously ran high profile wealth management firm Fordham Group and was general manager at global accountancy company Moore Stephens in Melbourne.
