Fi­nal­ists show­cased at coolest short film fes­ti­val

FIFTY of the hottest short films from around the world will fea­ture at the coolest fes­ti­val in the trop­ics with the fi­nal­ists to be show­cased un­der the stars over­look­ing the Dain­tree Rain­for­est and Coral Sea on Oc­to­ber 26 and 27 for the 2018 Port Shorts Film Fes­ti­val.

which will fea­ture among 13 of the best short films from around Aus­tralia and the world in the Port Shorts Open Film­maker Awards, com­pet­ing for the $5000 Port Shorts Film Fes­ti­val ma­jor prize on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 27 in Rex Smeal Park, Port Dou­glas.

Mossman teen Jake Gir­genti, who won the Port Shorts Young Film­maker Award in 2017, has grad­u­ated with fly­ing colours to also earn a fi­nal­ist screen­ing in the Open cat­e­gory with his funny short flick

show­ing along­side some of the most tal­ented emerg­ing film­mak­ers on the planet.

Port Shorts Fes­ti­val di­rec­tor Ali­son Ge­orge said the qual­ity of films to be show­cased at this year’s fes­ti­val was ex­cep­tional and also en­cour­aged lo­cals and vis­i­tors in­ter­ested in film to par­tic­i­pate in one of the many Mas­ter­class Series work­shops and learn from some of the best in the busi­ness.
