Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

“I’m committed at the last election to deliver this boat ramp, and am pleased that progress is being made, many in our community are keen fishers and are looking forward to using the new facility.”

The State Government has committed to a $30 million 2year extension of the Marine Infrastructure fund, dedicated to provide new and upgraded facilities across Queensland.

A brand new Newell Beach boat ramp, which will consist of two lanes, is on the to-do list.

The latest concept design included a new two-lane boat ramp, floating walkway and rock groyne on the upstream side of the ramp.

A build up of sand and silt has caused the ramp to be inaccessible over the years.

Dredging was previously on the cards but the new design plans to avoid it.
