Simple act makes world of difference

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

A SIMPLE act of kindness has gone a long way.

Jason Wintle, owner of Just Jase Hair in Port Douglas, has won a statewide award for Great Service at the Carers Friendly Business Awards for National Carers Week.

Jason was nominated for going above and beyond the call of duty.

He takes the initiate to visit Mara Booth in Ozcare so she can have her hair cut and coloured.

Jason said he didn’t think much of his simple gesture.

“I don’t feel like I’ve done anything different,” he said. “Sometimes small things help someone out and you don’t even realise. It’s just about taking that extra step to make sure she felt comfortable.”

Jason said he was honoured to have been nominated for the award by Mara’s husband Cole.

Mara used to go to Jason’s salon regularly but due to her health she couldn’t always make it. Cole Booth, Mara’s husband said the arrangement has made it easier and it means his wife continues to look beautiful.
