Students have a ball as they take to racquets for gala day
ELEVEN teams from the Douglas School Cluster competed in a Red Ball Tennis Gala Day.
The schools who were represented were Mossman, Port Douglas, Miallo, Wonga Beach and Julatten.
The event is sponsored by Tennis Qld and aims to promote the game of tennis to younger players in Queensland schools.
Red Ball is a modified game for the players from years one to four in the schools.
The day saw around 100 young, keen tennis players take to the courts to fight out who be the winners and runners up.
This competition is divided into two divisions.
Division one is the competition pathway for teams wanting to qualify for the state final held at the Brisbane International.
Division two is about encouraging participation, providing a fun, social playing experience and giving students the opportunity to represent their school in a team.
The division one winners were Miallo 1 team with Mossman 1 team the runners-up.
