Girls take regional champs

WONGA Beach State School Girls Team took out the Regional Championship for the Woolworth T20 Cricket Competition.

The boys won three of their first four games and had to face Yungaburra in the finals.

Yungaburra proved too good the for boys and they finished the day as runners-up.

The Girls team won their pool games all bar one against Atherton and made it through to finals based on their impressive run rate. They then had to face off in the finals against Atherton again and worked hard to keep their score low with great fielding and bowling.

The girls ended up defeating Atherton by more than 30 points and will now head off to the State Championships later in the year.

The girls will continue to train hard as they have their eyes firmly on the ultimate prize – a trip to the MCG for the National Titles.
