Bowlers head off to Malanda Dairy Festival
THE Mossman Bowls Club took 15 bowlers to Malanda Dairy Festival on Tuesday, October 23.
It was great to see so many bowlers attending. A great day was had by all. Well done Malanda. The third round of the graded Triples was played on Thursday, October 25, and Barbara Withers, Anita McCoist and Carole Maxted 35 defeated Honey Coysh, Margaret Cooper and Angie Fleming 7. Lesley Anderson, Christy Colley and Maree Johnson 20 defeated Barbara May, Trish Arnold and Anne Geddes 18.
The fourth round will be played today.
The winners for social play were Zina Gigenti and Jean Marsh 2 wins plus 16 runnersup were Estelle O'Rourke and Glenise Sharp 2 wins plus 7.
Wednesday, October 24, was mixed social bowls, a good field with some big winners.
First was G Marsh, Les Phillips and Doug Pitt 2 wins plus 24. Second Bob Gard, June Holdcroft and John Arnold 2 wins plus 16. A little bird said Bob and June were outstanding. Third, T Pisot, Jean Marsh and B Smith (undercover) 2 wins plus 13. Fourth Eve Tranfield, L Anderson and J Boadle 2 wins plus 11. Saturday, October 27, was the Men’s jackpot bowls. T Pisot, Mr Beaumont and M Frese 15 d C Tranfield, L Phillips and G Tyrer 14.
Agent Smith and Doug Pitt 21 d B Lester and B Hando 18. N Fletcher, P Gorsuch and T Holmes 28 d P Worley, D White and G Wilmot 17. Winners: J Girgenti, J Fleming and N Tesch 30 d G Marsh C Toohey and T Richards 13.
Sunday, October 28, was a continuation of mixed pairs which saw Janice and Tony Brylack beat Trish Arnold and J Boadle, and Angie and Gary just beating the Maxted’s in a tight game. There was also a small group of mixed social bowlers where Denise was too good for Sir Art.
The club also had a mixed team play in Ravenshoe on Saturday and two men’s teams played on Sunday. Reports suggest they all enjoyed themselves but didn’t bring home the bacon.
