SCALING THE HEIGHTS

-

In February, McLay travelled to Colombia to train at altitude for two weeks before his irst big target of Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne on the opening weekend in Belgium. “I’ve always wanted to try to do something with altitude before the Classics, whether it was just a tent or whatever, but I think actually being there and getting 24-hour exposure is quite good,” he says. “We’re going just outside Medellin. Tim Harris is jumping on because he loves Colombia, and so is Calvert Churchill [A young rider currently supported by the Dave Rayner Fund]. “It’s no big, organised training camp, but it should be quite relaxed.”
