Vittel has never seen a bona ide bunch sprint in the three visits the race has made so far. Charly Grosskost won a prologue there in 1968, Jelle Nijdam from a small group ahead of the bunch in 1990 and Nicki Sörensen in 2009 from a break. It’s likely to be fourth time lucky for the sprinters in 2017.
