CANNONDALE DRAPAC

-

Cannondale had a hard 2016, not winning a single WorldTour race, and the average results lasted into 2017. A California stage win for Andrew Talansky and Giro stage win for Pierre Rolland have re-energised the American team. At the Tour, Talansky will be given a run at the GC. His 10th in 2013 and 11th in 2015 were solid while uninspiring (though he won the 2014 Dauphiné with panache), and his fifth place in last year’s Vuelta was almost invisible. But he’s consistent and confident, and will be backed up by a strong team, including Rigoberto Urán and Rolland for mountains support, and Sep Vanmarcke and Taylor Phinney on the flat stages. With the pressure now off, another top-10 finish in Paris is very possible.

TOUR PALMARÈS

In its days as Garmin, the team specialised in stealthy top-10 results, starting with Christian Vande Velde in 2008, Brad Wiggins in 2009 then Ryder Hesjedal in 2010. In 2011 the American out it pulled out all the stops to win the teams classi ication.
