TEAM SKY

-

There are no prizes for guessing Sky’s aim this July, as Chris

Froome looks to become only the fifth man to win four yellow jerseys. As in 2016, his form is a question, with no wins of any kind through the end of May. We said something similar this time last year however, and look what happened. Geraint Thomas will once again be second-in-command, having been forced out of the Giro early. The famous mountain ‘train’ should also include Wout Poels, Sergio Henao and Mikel Nieve - all capable of a solid GC result or stage win should misfortune befall Froome. Sky has been criticised for lacking a Plan B, but when Plan A is so good you can hardly blame them for putting all their eggs in one basket. If Froome stays healthy, he’s the favourite.

TOUR PALMARÈS

It’s not yet the most successful Tour team – Movistar has six yellow jerseys – but Sky is the dominant team, winning four of the last ive. It’s not interested in much else – it ignores the breaks and the only other jersey it has is the KoM Froome won almost by accident in 2015.
