Sky have undoubtedly been the most successful grand tour team in the world this year, with two wins out of three. But for consistency of results, Sunweb have enjoyed a better season than the British team. We’ve added up the positions of each WorldTour team’s highest-placed rider in each of the three grand tours and found Sunweb just ahead of Sky. Tom Dumoulin’s win in the Giro, along with Warren Barguil’s 10th at the Tour and fourth for Wilco Kelderman at the Vuelta might not match Chris Froome’s wins in France and Spain, but Sky endured a poor Giro, with Mikel Landa their highest finisher in 17th place. Best of the rest: Cannondale, then Trek, each with a top 10 in all three races. FDJ take the GC wooden spoon, despite Thibaut Pinot’s bright fourth place in the Giro.

Sunweb: the most consistent GT team of 2017
