Rarely can a team execute a victory in the same way three times in a row as Boels-Dolmans did during hilly Classics week. Anna van der Breggen pulled off a superb one-two with her team-mate Lizzie Deignan remarkably at all three races this April, starting at Amstel Gold. In the early stages, the team set a high pace, whittling the peloton down to just 35 riders. Deignan attacked on the penultimate ascent of the Cauberg, creating a three-rider break, before Van der Breggen followed Annemiek van Vleuten’s attack to bridge across to her on the final lap. After pausing for breath when she joined Deignan, the Dutchwoman attacked again with 7km to go leaving Deignan to mark the chasers behind. She time-trialled to the finish, crossing the line almost a minute ahead of the chasers, who were led home by the British rider.
