After moving into the race lead on the penultimate stage by 30 seconds, all Sergio Henao had to do was hold off Dan Martin and Alberto Contador on the final mountainous stage to secure the overall win in Paris-Nice. But Contador had other ideas, launching a long-range attack 50km from the finish. Though the Spaniard moved into the virtual race lead, gaining a minute, Sky, as usual, didn’t panic and slowly pegged him back. By the final descent to the line Henao was all alone but fought back with the help of Movistar’s Jon Izagirre to secure the yellow jersey by two seconds.
