Af­ter mov­ing into the race lead on the penul­ti­mate stage by 30 sec­onds, all Ser­gio Henao had to do was hold off Dan Martin and Al­berto Con­ta­dor on the fi­nal moun­tain­ous stage to se­cure the over­all win in Paris-Nice. But Con­ta­dor had other ideas, launch­ing a long-range at­tack 50km from the fin­ish. Though the Spa­niard moved into the vir­tual race lead, gain­ing a minute, Sky, as usual, didn’t panic and slowly pegged him back. By the fi­nal de­scent to the line Henao was all alone but fought back with the help of Mo­vis­tar’s Jon Iza­girre to se­cure the yel­low jersey by two sec­onds.
