Mat­teo Trentin's pur­ple patch con­tin­ues, as he se­cures his sev­enth sea­son vic­tory at Paris-Tours and ends his year with a win. It was his inal race for Quick­Step be­fore mov­ing to Orica-Scott in 2018. The Ital­ian also won the French clas­sic in 2015, and has been en­joy­ing a spell of good form that peaked with four stages at the Vuelta a Es­paña. With QS team leader Fer­nando Gaviria hav­ing crashed with 20km to go, Trentin at­tacked on the Côte de Beau Soleil climb to split the pelo­ton. As the group re­duced fur­ther, Sun­web's Søren Kragh An­der­sen was the only rider able to stay with him be­fore team-mate Niki Terp­stra bridged. With nu­mer­i­cal su­pe­ri­or­ity for Quick-Step, Terp­stra led out as Trentin held o f the Dane to win
