Ag2r La Mon­di­ale's Alexan­dre Ge­niez gets the bet­ter of Vin­cenzo Nibali and Thibaut Pinot in the sprint as he be­comes the irst French­man ever to win Tre Valli Vare­sine. Held in Lom­bardy, it's one of a lurry of sin­gle-day races that build up to­wards Il Lombardia. Nibali was the ag­gres­sor, and sparked the de­ci­sive move to­wards the end of the 192km race, at­tack­ing on the inal climb with only Pinot able to fol­low. Yet once the road lat­tened out the chase be­gan in earnest be­hind, and Ge­niez timed his move per­fectly to bridge across to the lead­ing pair with a kilo­me­tre to go.
