Skujinš showcases his sprinting skills
Of the six road victories Toms Skujin has in his career, his win at Tre Valli Varesine was the first that he didn’t claim solo but rather won from a small group sprint. The Latvian’s three stage wins at the Tour of California have all come as a result of surviving from the day’s main breakaway. In Coppi e Bartali in 2017 he attacked solo on the final climb and similarly at TrofeoAndratx this January he attacked with 7km to go. But at the lumpy Italian autumn Classic, the 26-year-old showed he has sprinting ability as well as punchy panache, to win from a group of seven.
