Aus­tralian Com­pany Ac­quires Il­ford Brand Rights For Inkjet Me­dia


In part­ner­ship with Chugai Photo Chemical Com­pany Ltd of Tokyo, C.R. Kennedy & Com­pany Pty Ltd has been suc­cess­ful in its bid for the Il­ford trade marks and as­so­ci­ated as­sets. This re­lates specif­i­cally to inkjet print­ing me­dia such as the Il­ford Ga­lerie Pres­tige and Il­ford Om­ni­jet ranges. The ac­qui­si­tion will see these prod­ucts con­tinue with ex­ist­ing ICC profiles on a world-wide ba­sis.

A new com­pany called Il­ford Imag­ing Europe GmbH has been es­tab­lished as a joint ven­ture and will be re­spon­si­ble for all prod­uct de­vel­op­ment, pro­duc­tion, lo­gis­tics, sales and mar­ket­ing ac­tiv­i­ties. Cle­ment Kennedy and Arnoud Mekenkamp have been ap­pointed as joint man­ag­ing di­rec­tors of Il­ford Imag­ing Europe. Clem Kennedy is a di­rec­tor of C.R. Kennedy & Com­pany while Arnoud Mekenkamp is the man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of Tecco GmbH, a Ger­man­based pro­ducer of dig­i­tal print­ing ma­te­ri­als.

In a press re­lease is­sued jointly by C.R. Kennedy and Chugai Photo Chemical Com­pany, they state, “To­gether, both part­ners have a com­bined his­tory of 146 years in the photo in­dus­try. They are com­mit­ted to im­ple­ment­ing long term strate­gies for growth, with re­spect for the his­tory and tra­di­tions of the Il­ford brand. Il­ford has, for 135 years rep­re­sented out­stand­ing qual­ity; this will con­tinue.”

Es­tab­lished in 1934, C.R. Kennedy & Com­pany has had a long in­volve­ment with the pho­to­graphic in­dus­tries in Aus­tralia and New Zealand. In Aus­tralia it is the dis­trib­u­tor for a large num­ber of ma­jor imag­ing brands in­clud­ing Has­sel­blad, Bowens, Ri­coh and Pen­tax, Sigma, Metz, Zeiss, Hoya and Van­guard.
