Elizabeth Bard is an American journalist based in Paris. Elizabeth sat down to lunch with a handsome Frenchman and never went home again. Was it love at first sight for this handsome man or for the delectable food?

Lunch in Paris is a memoir about a young woman caught up in a love affair with a gorgeous Frenchman and French cuisine. Elizabeth is in the middle of a world full of open-air fresh food markets, hipsters, traditional bistros and immaculately dressed and manicured femme fatales. She learns to cope with being homesick by cooking up a storm from fluffy chocolate soufflés and pepper steak to gutting her first fish. Elizabeth finds that the deeper she immerses herself in French cooking the more Paris and France opens itself to her. She learns that the French may have a tough crusty exterior, but once you break through that exterior you find a soft mellow heart.

Lunch in Paris is light-hearted and fun with a few darker elements, such as Bard’s revelations about her father’s illness.
