Arts Centre Mel­bourne and Mid­summa Festival present Mid­summa Comedy Ex­trav­a­ganza

Arts Centre Mel­bourne and Mid­summa Festival will bring you the cream of the queer comedy crop with a star-stud­ded night of camp LOLs and butch hys­ter­ics in the Mid­summa Comedy Ex­trav­a­ganza at the Fair­fax Stu­dio on 24 Jan­uary, 2018. The comedy night will be hosted by Joel Creasey, and in­clude Steven Oliver, Dolly Di­a­mond, Kirsty We­beck, Lori Bell and Bobby Macum­ber. “Mid­summa is the highlight of my gay cal­en­dar and I can’t wait to per­form with all these fab­u­lous peo­ple!” says Creasey. Steven Oliver is an in­dige­nous poet and rap­per, ac­tor, singer, dancer and writer. Mel­bourne's Dolly Di­a­mond is fa­mous for shows like Pi­ano Bar and The Real Queen of Moomba as well as tak­ing on the role of Artis­tic Di­rec­tor of the Mel­bourne Cabaret Festival for 2017 and 2018. Kirsty We­beck is a Mel­bourne-based stand-up co­me­dian who in less than five years has gone from do­ing a five minute set at the end of a comedy work­shop to be­ing one of the most in-de­mand co­me­di­ans in the coun­try. A Triple J RAW Comedy State fi­nal­ist in 2010, Bobby Macum­ber's tour of her show Bobby's Bits' saw her per­form at the Perth and Ade­laide Fringe Fes­ti­vals and the Mel­bourne In­ter­na­tional Comedy Festival in 2016. Lori Bell is an award-win­ning Ade­laide-based comic and quick-wit­ted char­ac­ter per­former (al­ter ego ‘Granny Flaps').
