TRIBE PERTH hotel.qan

When it comes to boutique accommodation, Perth is on a roll. Slick inner-city den Alex (hotel.qanhotel) arrived on the scene in 2015, promptly followed by the elegant Como The Treasury (comohotels. com). Now, the launch of Tribe hotel means only one thing: the Western Australian capital is showing no signs of slowing down. A vast minimalist lobby awash with daylight, thanks to floor-to-ceiling glass windows, sets the mood at this nine-storey West Perth establishment next to Kings Park, about 10 minutes’ drive from the CBD. The 126 rooms – decorated with artworks, Jean Paul Gaultier cushions, Moroso chairs and dramatic Tom Dixon lighting – are just as stylish. Settle in to one of the park-view rooms with smart TV, complimentary wi-fi, movies on demand and Kevin Murphy amenities in the bathroom. Or make your way to Tribe Foods, a daytime café that morphs into a bar at night and offers a seasonal/regional/ethical menu by chef Tobie Puttock.

Algarve, the southernmost region of mainland Portugal, is a land of golden beaches and green water, soaring cliffs and whitewashed towns. Amid the lush sweep of one of its golf courses is this brand-new Anantara retreat. Check in to one of the garden-view rooms offering private balconies with day beds and spacious ensuites with rain showers. Or make yourself at home in a Junior Suite (with or without a view of the green), which has a separate living area and butler service. There are many eateries to choose from: Emo is ideal if you’re after an expansive wine list and made-to-share menu, while Ria is perfect for seafood-lovers. Activities range from yoga and tai chi to luxurious body treatments at the Anantara Spa. The hotel also organises excursions. Take a chef-guided tour of the Loulé market, which dates back to the early 1900s and sells gourmet local produce in Neo-Moorish architectural surrounds.

FIJI MARRIOT T R ESORT MOMI BAY, FI J I hotel.qanjimarriott

It’s impossible to pick the most picturesque part of this new retreat on the west coast of Fiji’s main island, Viti Levu, just 45 minutes from the airport. Is it the child-free infinity pool, where you can compare your patch of cool blue against the cerulean waters of the Pacific Ocean? The main lobby’s cathedrallike ceiling, inspired by the traditional bure? Or your overwater villa with private deck and steps descending to the tranquil lagoon? Whatever it is, be sure to set aside time for the Fish Bar oceanfront eatery, which serves stellar cocktails and seafood.
