Director Sera Davies One of Australia’s most acclaimed painters, Albert Namatjira was the first Aboriginal man to be granted citizenship – a calculated move that meant his earnings would be subject to tax. Namatjira died a broken man and to this day, his family does not receive royalties because the government sold his copyright. This documentary traces his relatives’ campaign to restore that copyright – a project that takes them all the way to Buckingham Palace.
