What’s your favourite place in regional Australia?
Hervey Bay in Queensland, because of its casual, beachy vibe – and Fraser Island is so close.
Beach? Those on any of the islands in the Whitsundays, particularly Hamilton Island.
Indulgence? Having a massage at the Cairns Night Markets. It’s something I do on every overnight there.
Produce? Seafood in Hervey Bay doesn’t get any fresher; it’s caught just out of the bay.
Restaurant? Salt House in Cairns is a funky place to go for a drink and tapas. And everyone has to experience a steak from The Criterion hotel in Rockhampton – it’s the beef capital of Australia, after all.
The Ramada Hervey Bay. It has rooms with balconies that overlook the pool, plus the food is delicious at Smokey Joe’s Restaurant.
Experience? Touring the Qantas Founders Museum in Longreach, Queensland.
