Parkes Jan­uary 11-15 parke­selv­is­fes­ti­ The body of Elvis is buried in Mem­phis (or so they say) but his spirit lives on in Parkes. The Cen­tral West town’s pop­u­la­tion of 12,000 ex­pands like the King’s waist­line did dur­ing the 1970s – al­most dou­bling as fans flock to pay trib­ute to the rock’n’roll leg­end with song, dance, side­burns and swiv­el­ling hips.
