QantasLink Q400 pilot

QantasLink Sprit - - News & Views -

What’s your favourite aerial view?

I regularly fly to Hamilton Island in Queensland and there’s nothing better than looking down and seeing the beautiful blues and greens of the Great Barrier Reef. I’m very fortunate to have such a great outlook from my “office”.

Regional destination?

Longreach, also in Queensland. The people are so friendly. It takes nearly two hours from Brisbane and we fly over desert and vast expanses. This flight serves as a constant reminder of how big Australia is.

What motivated you to become a pilot?

When I was young, I loved everything about planes and wanted to be a flight attendant. I didn’t even consider being a pilot, as there were no female role models. But in my early teens, Dad suggested I give it a go. The first female airline pilots had just been employed in Australia so I started to realise that it might be possible. Along the way, people doubted I could make it, saying it wasn’t a job for women. But I proved them wrong!
