The Grafton Jacaranda Fes­ti­val in NSW (jacarandafes­ti­ kicks off on 28 Oc­to­ber with the crown­ing of the Jacaranda Queen and winds up eight days later af­ter a busy pro­gram of pa­rades, pic­nics, open gar­dens, con­certs and more. It’s all to cel­e­brate the mauve majesty of the hun­dreds of South Amer­i­can na­tives first planted in this North­ern Rivers city by seed mer­chant Henry Volk­ers in 1879.
