Kids love the in­fin­ity la­goon pool at El­e­ments

of By­ron (ho­tel.qan­tas.­e­ments), a lux­ury eco re­sort in By­ron Bay, north­ern NSW, that’s re­launch­ing in Oc­to­ber with a bonus for the grown-ups: a 25-me­tre adults-only heated pool with swimup bar. The re­launch – 20 months af­ter the re­sort opened on a 20-hectare beach­front site – also in­cludes 99 new vil­las (there are cur­rently 94) and, by the end of the year, a so­lar-pow­ered twocar­riage train that links the re­sort with the By­ron Bay town­ship three kilo­me­tres away.

Mitchel­ton Wines

(mitchel­ in the Goul­burn Val­ley, a 90-minute drive north of Mel­bourne, is fa­mous to Vic­to­ri­ans of a cer­tain era for its land­mark 1973 Robin Boyd-de­signed cel­lar door fea­tur­ing a 55-me­tre-high view­ing tower. To­day, a new gen­er­a­tion is dis­cov­er­ing Mitchel­ton through its out­door con­certs, un­der­ground Hal­loween par­ties and, soon, a new 58-room bou­tique ho­tel and day spa that is ex­pected to open in late spring.
