Get the look for spring

QT Magazine - - BEAUTY - WITH STEPHEN GASKETT - ELIZABETH ARDEN NATIONAL MAKE-UP ARTIST

IT’S that time of year again, to put away the woollies and the slippers and get out there for a new season. So what’s good for Spring in 2017?

Brows are still a focus for this time of year. Brows not only frame the eyes but a well-groomed pair adds instant polish to any make-up look. To achieve a defined brow, brush your brows upwards, this actually shows you exactly where the gaps are and guides you where you need to use pencil or product.

I am loving the new Elizabeth Arden Statement Brow (RRP $32). To achieve full, natural brows I always brush hair in the opposite direction of growth moving from the tail end to inner corner to thicken. Then I like to use the leftover pigment on the brush to comb brows back, up and out.

Bold lips are my go-to and one of my favourite trends is a deep plum lip with dark lip liner. To pull off a bold lip, your lips need to be plump, smooth and well hydrated – only attempt a bold lip if your lips are in good condition. I suggest applying Eight Hour Cream every night in the cooler nights (and summer ideally) to keep lips hydrated and looking soft. Another tip, have Eight Hour Cream on your lips while you do the rest of your face and blot it off before applying lip liner. It really does make a difference to minimise bleeding. Before applying lipstick, cover lips with concealer to achieve a true colour, then apply liner and lipstick.

If you prefer to focus on your eyes to make a statement, then this season is all about the smudgy eye – similar to our old friend, the classic smoky but it requires less effort. To recreate the look you need a dark liner and two shades of shadow; a dark-ish shade and a neutral highlight. Using the most intense colour concentrated at the lash line and smudge up and out.

Begin with a darker liner, along the upper inner rim of the lids and along the waterline, as well as smudged along the upper and lower lashlines.

Next run your deepest eye shadow shade along the upper lashlines and on the lids.

Head into Healthyworld Pharmacy at Riverlink for all of the Elizabeth Arden proudcts you’ll need to create these looks.
