All-white interiors may not be a new concept, but unlike, say, fur-lined designer moccasins, they’re definitely here to stay. And there’s a variation to suit all aesthetics – from brilliant whites for a minimalist gallery vibe, to a whitewashed boho feel, there’s never any decorator regret when it comes to this neutral shade. According to our style editor Kerrie-Ann Jones, the key to creating beautifully chic white spaces that still ooze warmth lies in clever layering. She suggests utilising various tones of warm whites in decor, furnishings and walls to add depth and interest to a room. Try also mixing up textures with natural materials and shiny surfaces, or make like a Parisian and add an objet des curiosité – that is, an interesting piece of art, family heirloom or flea-market find. “It’s the process of layering a space with variations of all of these elements that creates an interesting home,” Kerrie-Ann says.
