MAKES 1 quan­tity PREP 5 min­utes

500g but­ter, at room tem­per­a­ture 2 tea­spoons vanilla essence 5 cups ic­ing sugar, sifted ½ cup milk

Us­ing an elec­tric mixer, beat but­ter and essence in a large bowl un­til as white as pos­si­ble. Grad­u­ally add ic­ing sugar with milk, beat­ing un­til fluffy.
