BIMM set for Summer Schools

Last call for Bristol courses

Rhythm - - BEAT! -

What better way to spend your summer than being behind the kit and surrounded by like-minded musicians?

That is exactly how you can spend a week of the summer break thanks to a pair of mini-courses from ■ BIM Bristol.

BIM Bristol’s Summer Schools run 24 to 28 July and ■ 31 July to 4 August. The first week is the teaching institution’s indie and pop week, while the latter is their rock school (with the latter suitably sponsored by ■ Marshall Amplification).

Whichever one you opt for, you will get the opportunity to record in a professional studio and take home a CD containing your own professionally recorded track. Plus, you will perform on stage in front of family and friends.

Choose pop/indie week and you will be able to pick the brains of guests such as session drummer extraordinaire Geoff Dugmore, singer Eva Lazarus (DubMafia) and bass player Damon Minchella (The Who, Paul Weller).

Meanwhile, guests during the rock course include Skindred’s Arya Goggin, Tax The Heat bass player Anton Angotti and Cradle of Filth guitarist James McIlroy. BIM tutors Jamie Hunt and James Hester will also be on hand ■ at both courses.
