Erlandsson back with the skills to power

Rhythm - - CONTENTS -

The Swedish melodic death metallers are now on their 10th album in a 20-year career, the second to add Alyssa White-Gluz’s spine-shattering scream to the mix of melodic riffing, and double-kick blast-beat fury courtesy of drum mainstay Daniel Erlandsson. He’s on fire here, powering the mighty ‘The Race’, chugging ‘Murder Scene’ and melodic stand-out ‘In The Water’. In Erlandsson’s own words (see Welcome Back on page 13 this issue), his is a more stripped back approach this time to allow the songs to breathe and let their more complex, prog-leanings to come to the fore, which they do on the grandiose ‘Dreams Of Retribution’ and soaring album closer ‘A Fight I Must Win’.
