Stereo­phon­ics tour an­nounced

Natal artist Jamie Mor­ri­son is head­ing back out onto the road in 2018 with arena fillers the Stereo­phon­ics. You can catch Mor­ri­son and co at enormo domes around the UK from 23 Fe­bru­ary when they kick off their tour in Aberdeen.

Paiste shakes up SD team

Paiste has un­veiled its lat­est Sound De­vel­op­ment cre­ative team for 2017 and beyond. Kas­par Rast, Arno Trox­ler, Erik Paiste and Ste­fan Oder­mett will be charged with the task of re­view­ing and in­ter­pret­ing feed­back from around the globe re­gard­ing Paiste prod­ucts and, most im­por­tantly, us­ing this to re­fine the works of the cym­bal be­he­moth.

Call in the Pro­fes­sion­als

Paul Cook is back with a new al­bum from The Pro­fes­sion­als. Cook has re­united his post-Sex Pis­tols band and re­leases What In T he World on 27 Oc­to­ber. The band play a pair of UK dates later this year; Wolver­hamp­ton’s Slade Rooms on 27 Oc­to­ber and The Garage in Lon­don the fol­low­ing night.

Kasabian hit UK are­nas

Ian Matthews will be back be­hind his Bri­tish Drum Com­pany tubs this au­tumn as Kasabian head out on a UK tour. The Le­ices­ter chart both­er­ers start their 12-date run at the Newcastle Metro Ra­dio Arena on 24 Novem­ber and con­clude at the Bar­clay­card Arena in Birm­ing­ham on 9 De­cem­ber.

Jaki book on the way

A book cel­e­brat­ing the life and work of Can’s Jaki Liebezeit, who passed away in Jan­uary 2017, is in the works. Jaki Lie beze it: Life, The­ory and Prac­tice of A Mas­ter Drum­mer is ap­peal­ing for crowd­fund­ing with the hope of a 2018 re­lease.

Vir­gil Howe RIP

Vir­gil Howe, drum­mer for Lit­tle Bar­rie, has passed away. Howe, who was the son of Yes guitarist Steve Howe, died at the age of 42.

JJ gig and new al­bum

Joey’s band VIMIC are fi­nally set to re­lease their awaited de­but al­bum early in 2018. Watch this space for more on that, but the for­mer Slip­knot drum­mer will be over in the UK on 15 Novem­ber for a one-off gig at the 100 Club in Lon­don. Mean­while Sin­saenum, fea­tur­ing Dragon­force’s Frédéric Le­clercq with Joey on drums, are set to re­lease their de­but EP Ashes on 10 Novem­ber.
