Stereophonics tour announced
Natal artist Jamie Morrison is heading back out onto the road in 2018 with arena fillers the Stereophonics. You can catch Morrison and co at enormo domes around the UK from 23 February when they kick off their tour in Aberdeen.
Paiste shakes up SD team
Paiste has unveiled its latest Sound Development creative team for 2017 and beyond. Kaspar Rast, Arno Troxler, Erik Paiste and Stefan Odermett will be charged with the task of reviewing and interpreting feedback from around the globe regarding Paiste products and, most importantly, using this to refine the works of the cymbal behemoth.
Call in the Professionals
Paul Cook is back with a new album from The Professionals. Cook has reunited his post-Sex Pistols band and releases What In T he World on 27 October. The band play a pair of UK dates later this year; Wolverhampton’s Slade Rooms on 27 October and The Garage in London the following night.
Kasabian hit UK arenas
Ian Matthews will be back behind his British Drum Company tubs this autumn as Kasabian head out on a UK tour. The Leicester chart botherers start their 12-date run at the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena on 24 November and conclude at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham on 9 December.
Jaki book on the way
A book celebrating the life and work of Can’s Jaki Liebezeit, who passed away in January 2017, is in the works. Jaki Lie beze it: Life, Theory and Practice of A Master Drummer is appealing for crowdfunding with the hope of a 2018 release.
Virgil Howe RIP
Virgil Howe, drummer for Little Barrie, has passed away. Howe, who was the son of Yes guitarist Steve Howe, died at the age of 42.
JJ gig and new album
Joey’s band VIMIC are finally set to release their awaited debut album early in 2018. Watch this space for more on that, but the former Slipknot drummer will be over in the UK on 15 November for a one-off gig at the 100 Club in London. Meanwhile Sinsaenum, featuring Dragonforce’s Frédéric Leclercq with Joey on drums, are set to release their debut EP Ashes on 10 November.
