Rhythm - - BEAT! -

I’m a huge fan of your magazine and have enjoyed reading about my biggest influences, Buddy Rich and John Bonham to name two. But I loved the March issue with Joey Jordison the most asI have followed his work from the very first Slipknot album which was released when I was 15 and just started learning drums in high school.

My son at two years old would harass me to put on the Joey solo from ‘Disasterpieces’ and he would pretend he was Joey playing the drums! My son is now 13 learning drums and is also inspired. To read about Joey’s struggles with his health and geting back behind the drums is very inspiring, as I too had to deal with health problems (torn AC L, nowhere near as bad as his issues) and after three months of physio it was an awesome feeling getting back behind the drums after a set-back. He is incredibly talented, very humble and a very versatile drummer, as for anyone to be able to play Frost’s drumming in Satyricon shows great talent, as his drumming is epic.

I’m also a huge fan of black metal and love Sinsaenum and also big fan of Vimic. My son and I look forward to hearing the new tunes from our fave drummer. Keep up the good work!

Really pleased that you and your son are both enjoying heavy music, Lisa! Joey is really one of the gr eats of modern metal, and his story is pretty inspirational. And Frost–there’ s another amazing drummer, for sure…
