Roundabout on the cards

Bypass plans for intersection await NSW Government green light

Rouse Hill Times - - NEWS - Lawrence Machado

A TWO-LANE roundabout for a proposed intersection at Pitt Town Rd, Bathurst St and Glebe Rd will be built as part of the new Pitt Town Rd bypass following approval by the NSW Government.

The other features planned to cope with the expanding residential development north of Pitt Town include a two-lane roundabout (instead of traffic lights) for the new intersection at Eldon St and Old Pitt Town Rd.

According to the RMS, the goal is to realign the road corridor so through traffic does not travel into the CBD.

Hawkesbury state Liberal MP Dominic Perrottet said the bypass had been under consideration for more than six decades and the government had had “extensive community consultation” over the options.

He said a bypass would re- duce traffic travelling through the town centre and improve road safety.

“The NSW Government funded early planning work to address the community’s concern about the large number of vehicles passing through the town centre,” Mr Perrottet said.

“The community’s feedback has been taken into consideration and the RMS has incorporated a number of suggested features into the preferred option.”

The RMS will continue planning and development of the concept design and consult with the community as the proposal progresses.
