Come home, Dessie, we miss you
The ‘Bring Des Hasler Back to Manly’ campaign is alive and well on Sydney’s northern beaches. There’s a lot more water to flow under the bridge before Hasler’s extension at the Bulldogs is sorted. And even if it is, the tenuous nature of modern contracts will be put to the test. There are certain figures on the Bulldogs board who aren’t convinced Hasler understands the Canterbury culture, and think all concerned would be better off if he went back to Manly. Trent Barrett has another season to run on his two-year deal at Brookvale but another failure in 2017 will open the way for Hasler to return to the club where he won two premierships as a coach and two as a player.
